Our 2024 annual report
In 2024, Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe reached around 8.1 million people in 31 project countries worldwide. We implemented 104 projects with a total volume of 66.9 million euros. 94.3% of our expenditure goes directly into our projects.
The situation in the Middle East was a particular focus of our work in 2024. In our latest annual report, you can find out how Help has supported people in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon, among other places.

Previous annual reports
Natural disasters, wars and conflicts, as well as the consequences of climate change, meant that around 363 million people worldwide were dependent on humanitarian aid in 2023.
Whether after the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, the dam breach in Ukraine, the floods in Libya or the escalation of the Middle East conflict, Help provided urgently needed humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable people.
The 2022 annual report includes articles on our emergency aid in Ukraine, our work in Afghanistan, sustainable agriculture in north-eastern Syria and 30 years of Help in Zimbabwe.
In 2021, Help was able to implement 96 aid projects and help more than 16 million people. The floods in Germany and the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan were the focus of our work.
The COVID-19 pandemic shaped all our lives in 2020, including the work of Help. Despite all the challenges, we continued our aid efforts and supported more than 8.1 million people.
In 2019, the number of refugees worldwide was higher than ever before. Help supported a total of 4.2 million people worldwide in building a better future for themselves.
The drama of humanitarian crises did not diminish in 2018. The number of refugees and displaced persons continues to rise, reaching around 70.8 million people worldwide.
